The partnership is funded through a $7,500 investment from Titan Link and the GTCC Foundation.

In 2023-2024, the GTCC-hosted Fresh Mobile Market partnership served over 3,800 families with over 56,000 pounds of food.

Titan Link provides resources and information that help GTCC students, staff, and faculty with non-academic challenges such as housing, transportation, food insecurity, childcare, and emergency loan/grant/scholarship application access for GTCC.

“Last year’s collaboration was not only rewarding for the volunteers but also for the High Point Community,” said Natashia McEachern, director for Titan Link. “We are very excited to work with the Out of the Garden Project again this year. Serving over 3,800 individuals in the High Point Community was impactful, and we are excited about repeating the collaboration this year.”

Out of the Garden Project, a Triad-based nonprofit organization, began in 2008 serving a few families with food on Friday so they would not go hungry over the weekend.

“We are grateful for the partnership with GTCC and Titan Link,” said Beth Crise, president of Out of the Garden Project. “Together, we have made a big impact for those living in High Point who are food insecure. I am positive that as a community we will be able to meet the rising need to serve a greater number of families in the upcoming year.”

With the help of hundreds of volunteers and donors, the organization has distributed more than 20 million meals since it was founded, distributed over 2 million meals last year, distributes more than 200,000 meals monthly, and serves 2,500-plus students and families each week.

Fresh Mobile Markets, an Out of the Garden Project program serves families every month with 22 locations in the Piedmont Triad area. Families can expect to leave a Fresh Mobile Market with around 60 pounds of food.
